Most of us have been the stranger somewhere. The new person at work. The only one at the table who doesn't drink. The one who left, or the one who stayed when everyone else moved on.
It is an uncomfortable feeling, and the usual answer is to make it go away as quickly as possible. Blend in. Adjust. Become less noticeable.
PATIENCE was made around a different answer.
Glad tidings to the strangers
The back of the shirt reads: Glad tidings to the strangers. Five words, set large, stepped down the back one line at a time.
It is not a complaint about being on the outside, and it is not a boast about it either. It is good news, addressed to the people who feel out of place. A quiet way of saying that standing slightly apart is not the same as being wrong.
That is why the design is called PATIENCE. Being the stranger rarely resolves itself quickly. It asks you to hold your ground without making a show of it, to keep the habits and values you chose even when nobody around you shares them, and to wait without bitterness. Patience is what makes that bearable. It is the difference between feeling isolated and feeling settled in who you are.
I wanted the shirt to carry that idea without shouting it. So the front stays plain. The words sit on the back, where they are read by whoever happens to be walking behind you, rather than announced to the person in front. You don't have to explain it to anyone. It is there if someone wants to read it.
The lettering is a classic serif, a little old-fashioned on purpose. Each line steps in from the one above, so the phrase reads slowly, the way it is meant to be read. Nothing rushes it.
The shirt itself
PATIENCE is part of the Gatecrasher collection, alongside SACRED and INNOVATION. It is cut from 230gsm heavyweight cotton, so it has real weight and hangs properly rather than clinging. The fit is boxy and oversized, with a dropped shoulder, a crew neck and short sleeves, in sizes S to XL.
The front carries only a small crescent moon on the chest. ALUNA sits on the sleeve and at the neck. Everything else is left to the back print. It comes in cream, white and brown.
